Lacawac Sanctuary is pleased to announce the 3rd annual Lake to Lake 8K Trail Run and Woods Walk on Sunday October 16th on the trails of Lacawac in Lake Ariel, Pennsylvania. Our Lake to Lake event kicks off at 11 am! Run and walk through the trails of Lacawac Sanctuary-over 400 acres of wonder, biodiversity and natural resources. Dogs welcome and encouraged for the woods walk.
ALL FOR A GOOD CAUSE This autumn trail run and walk is all for a good cause and fun for the whole family. Proceeds support Lacawac’s preservation and environmental education programs, scientific research, and advocacy and public awareness outreach. Support this fun trail and nature event while benefiting a special place-Lacawac: • Exposure- Your business will be featured on advertisements ...and promotions leading up to the event. • Philanthropy- Your sponsorship aligns your brand with a great cause and highlights your corporate initiative toward nature and local preservation. • Value- Since trail runs have recently gained popularity, you will reach consumers in a new way.
COURSE This outdoor course winds through 550 acres of wooded nature trails and access roads, all on the grounds of Lacawac Sanctuary. Be advised that sections of the course are technical, rocky and steep. No dogs or strollers on 8K course, both are welcome on Woods Walk.
HEALTH AND WELLNESS BENEFITS A systematic review carried out by a team at the Peninsula College of Medicine and Dentistry has analysed existing studies and concluded that there are benefits to mental and physical well-being from taking exercise in the natural environment. Their findings are published in the research journal Environmental Science and Technology on February 4th 2011.
The study found that outdoor exercise was associated with greater decreases in tension, confusion, anger and depression when compared to indoor activity. And a 2010 study found that even just five minutes of exercise in a green space can improve mood and self-esteem.
RESULTS Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) chip timing by Scranton Running Company.
